Meet Your Teacher!

Hi, I’m Matt! 👋

I’m an electronic music maker, passionate educator and one of only 400 Ableton Certified Trainers in the world.

After over 5 years of teaching and developing music production courses and subjects at renowned education institutes in my home city of Melbourne, I put together this course because I wanted a one-stop-shop for students to learn music production in a structured, comprehensive and fun way.

This course is designed so that you will gain a clear understanding of the fundamentals of music production that you can apply to any style of music and any Digital Audio Workstation. It just so happens that I think Ableton Live is one of the best DAWs for learning these concepts!

If you're a complete beginner looking to dive into the world of music production, someone who's coming back to music after a hiatus, moving over to Ableton Live from another DAW or you simply want a refresher on the fundamentals, then this course is for you!

I'm looking forward to helping you on your music-making journey. 😊

FAQ

  • Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to create their own music, learn the fundamentals of Ableton Live, or for anyone who feels like there might be some gaps in their fundamental understanding of making music using technology. If you've already been making your own music using Ableton Live for a while, this course might help to cover any gaps and teach you things from a different perspective, but you might find some of the lessons a bit basic.

  • Do I need any prior musical experience?

There is absolutely no assumed knowledge for this course. Whilst a basic understanding of some musical terminology is useful, it's completely not necessary for you to be able to get the most out of this course. There's a whole section that covers basic music theory concepts to get you up to speed even if you've had absolutely zero musical training.

  • What do I need for this course?

The only necessity is a computer with an internet connection! The computer doesn't need to be super flashy either, really anything from the last 5 years will be more than enough. I will walk you through the process of downloading the trial version of Ableton Live, but it might also be a good idea for you to either purchase a copy of Ableton Live (Live Intro will be fine!), or get your hands on a copy of Live Lite by either buying a piece of hardware like an audio interface, or signing up to a service like LANDR Studio.

  • Will this course work for all editions of Live?

Whilst the course is taught using Ableton Live 11 Suite, options for all editions of Ableton Live are provided. If you're using an older version of Live (or even a newer one!), there might be some differences in the specifics, but the focus of the course is on teaching concepts that are transferrable not only across different editions of Ableton Live, but also different DAWs and other music-making environments.

  • Do you have a refund policy?

If you're not happy with the course for any reason and would like a refund, simply send me an email within 30 days of purchase and I'll be happy to refund you, but you will lose access to the course. That said, I'm incredibly confident that this course will exceed all your expectations!
